The stew, is a stew made with meat and vegetables; with the broth they draw up a noodle or rice soup as first dish and the typical "pilota dolça's" (sweet ball) for dessert. Stew has meat of all kinds, bacon, leaf beet, chick peas, turnip, parsnip, carrot, potatoes.
Whilst the stew is typical of all Marina Alta, the sweet ball dessert that accompanies it, is only made in El Poble Nou de Benitatxell, which is the difference to other villages.
Sweet ball is a dessert made with ground almonds, sweet potatoes, sugar, cinnamon and lemon.
It is a very typical meal that many houses bring to the table on Christmas, feast or Sundays. Its characteristic aroma smell on the streets of town these days.
